The music is haunting and sometimes happy. It will make you laugh and it will make you cry. It will make you dance or it will make you tap your knee awkwardly if you cant dance. You'll hear mighty beats of tribal drumming laced with laser fast finger rolls on doumbeks like rain on a tin roof. The dancers are hungry tribal women tied together in spiritual harmony. They hynotize you and blind you will all those brilliant colors and hair. You MUST SEE THEM PERFORM LIVE in order to fully understand what is happening here. It's been nearly a year since I started training with the dance instructors at the Center for World Rhythm and Movement and have come to know most of the dancers and musicians very well. For skill, for fun, for muscle isolation or expanding into other forms of dance outside the tribal belly dancing, this is a great community to find a focus with. - yawfren , posted 07/26/05 |
